The first program is August 9, at Indiana Farm Bureau in Indianapolis, IN http://macc.coop/event-registration/?ee=73. The second program is August 10, at AIEC in Springfield, IL http://macc.coop/event-registration/?ee=74.

The Director Education program is armed to infuse new thinking to dissolve unproductive patterns. Get your team moving toward the common goals that bring fruitful rewards to your co-op.

Understanding the director’s role and how to govern cooperatives is not intuitive. It is one of the most difficult roles in the cooperative system. It is a challenge to navigate the conflicting interests of members/customers and be a neutral and effective board director, as well. All co-op directors want to perform their duties well, yet many are seldom provided with the proper guidelines and education. This, unfortunately, positions them for failure.

MAC-Ed delivers the Director Education course, which is targeted and specific to member needs. Both management and new and existing board members require core education that explains their roles, duties and responsibilities. MAC-Ed’s course curriculum is diverse, flexible and tailored for each session. Sessions expound upon strategy, financial oversight, governance and succession planning, specific to member cooperatives. This class will help attendees understand the complexities of the co-op director’s role in establishing and casting the vision; while balancing the vested interests of the member-owner role.
